Course Details 2016
All courses are run at our well equipped Solway Ceramics Centre. The centre facilities are always available enabling individual early starts or late sessions to develop/continue your work if you wish.
All these courses include free breakfast, coffee & tea refreshments and a buffet lunch in the comfort of the Centre's Communal Area. Cooking and food storage facilities are available in the communal area for your own evening 'self catering' (or there are good pubs nearby that serve evening meals). W.C.'s and showers on site. Laundry facilities available. Comfortable leisure area open 24 hours.
In addition there are a limited number of basic camping huts available, free of charge. They have a simple bed, table and chair, carpet and battery lantern (no electricity). Alternatively, we can supply a list of good B&Bs and hotels in the local area.

Group Pottery Days 2016
Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter 2016 Friendship groups, Family groups, Organisations, Schools - All these groups have found a day at the pottery to be something really different, enjoyable and inspirational. Group sizes can be between 4 and 10 with average cost of £30 for the group booking plus £10 per person. Please see our News page for further details and for a description of a previous group day!
February to March 2016 - Life Figure Drawing Sessions
Saturdays 27th February / 5th March / 12th March 2016, Life Figure Drawing Sessions
Cost £10 per session. 8 places per session. 10.30am - 3.30pm Participants will need to bring their own materials, boards etc. A series of short poses working towards a longer pose. Lunch break of @ 1 hour. Tea/coffee and biscuits included.

In partnership with North West division of Northern Potters Association, Solway Ceramics Centre is hosting this demonstration by the co-authors of 'Paperclay - The Perfect Union' . Astrid and Otaker live and work in Austria and are reknowned ceramic artists using paperclay. Their day with us is part of their UK tour promoting both their book and the unique versatility of paperclay.

Saturday, 25th June - Sunday, 26th June 2016 A two day weekend course modelling the nude figure from life. Students will learn direct modelling techniques, sculpting to scale and enhance their observation and knowledge of the human body.

This is a hands on course giving tuition and experience in glaze preparation, glaze recipes, testing, application techniques and firing preparation together with kiln loading and firing using gas, electric and wood/salt kilns - plus the opportunity to continue developing throwing skills with John's expertise always nearby.
For those also doing Course 2 this is a very busy week combining continued throwing instruction to consolidate and refine your skills with all the above elements of glazing and firing.
